How Endowments Work
An endowment fund provides for flexible annual income, independent of the Library's operating budget and secure from changes in city and state funding levels. Endowment income grows as the funds are maintained and invested by the Library Foundation. Each year, a portion of the investment income will be earmarked to support Library programs while the remaining portion is reinvested so the fund will continue to grow.
Endowments are recognized in one of the following ways: appropriate signs, bookplates or plaques will be produced in recognition of the individual or group being honored.
Endowments may be started with any size contribution; however, endowments are named for the donor only after a minimum gift of $1,000. New collections, or major portions of existing collections (i.e. Nevada, art, large print books) may be named with an endowment of a minimum gift of $10,000.
